The experiment “Salad Machine”

The Experiment “Salad machine” is to explore performance characteristics of the prototype of a space conveyor salad greenhouse (SSG) and impact of cultivated vitaminous greens to the work of digestive system of the crew members in conditions of the long term isolation. In SSG “Phytocycle SD” it’s planned to cultivate conveyor crops of Chinese cabbage (Brassica chinensis L.) on a salient cylindrical surface under the light of reflecting diodes. During the vegetation studies of efficiency dynamincs, food qualities of plants and dynamics of microflora surface will also be performed. Received data will be used for designing of a greenhouse for the life support system of space crews.
