Organization of life and activity of the crew
The participants of the Martian flight will be exposed to the influence of a set of simultaneously or consecutively influencing factors typical for dynamics of an interplanetary flight, space environment and conditions of life and activity in confined environment.
The most important problematic factor of the Martian flight is autonomy of the expedition, influencing significantly the structure of biomedical support of the expedition, increase of loading on the crew, increase of the level of responsibility and psychological tension, and, in the end, possibility of performance by the crew of a successful mission to Mars. To study possible effects of autonomy factors influence on life and activity of the crew and its ability to perform the program of the experiment, the following conditions will be realized in the scenario of the experiment:
- All the necessary for life and activity of the crew resources are strictly rationed, group and individual norms have been worked out of consumption of each resource at different stages of the expedition. On board there are means of individual control of consumption of each of the mentioned resources.
- No additional delivery of the above-mentioned resources in the period of the “expedition” is foreseen.
- Solving of problems and off-nominal situations, not requiring evacuation of crew members is performed by the crew itself.
- Evacuation of separate crew members in connection with illness or on wish is equal to “death” of the cosmonaut.
- All the main operations and the main decisions are performed by the crew independently. Experiment control center help is limited only by consultations in the framework of the stated regime of communication.
