Ryazanskiy Sergey Nikolaevich

Age: 34 years old
Permanent residence: Moscow, Russia.
Profession: cosmonaut-investigator.
Education:
In 1996 finished biological faculty of Moscow state university on the specialty “Biochemistry”;
From 1997 to 2000 studied at post-graduate courses at SSC RF – Institute for Bio-Medical Problems of RAS.
Experience:
From 1996 he worked at SSC RF – Institute for Bio-Medical Problems of RAS in the position of junior researcher, from 2001 – researcher, and from 2003 – senior researcher. He took an active part in tests of mock-ups of on-board countermeasure means, in a series of experiments with simulation of microgravity conditions – hypokinesia, “dry immersion”, long-term isolation. In 2002 as the principle investigator he was the organizer of the experiment with 7-day immersion, aimed at investigation of countermeasure characteristics of compensator of support loading. He is the author of more than 20 published scientific works.
During several years he has been a member of Bioethical commission of SSC RF – Institute for Bio-Medical Problems of RAS.
In 2003 he was selected into the team of cosmonauts of SSC RF – IBMP RAS, and after finishing general space training, he received qualification “Cosmonaut-investigator”.
He was awarded a medal named after Y. A. Gagarin of Federation of cosmonautics of Russia, NASA certificate for personal contribution into the work on international project “Bion-11” and diploma for significant contribution into international 240-day ground-based experiment with simulation of conditions of a long-term space flight– SFINCSS.
In 2006 he defended candidate’s thesis and became candidate of biological sciences.
In November 2007 as the commander of the crew he participated in the technical experiment of “Mars-500” project.

Artemiev Oleg Germanovich

Age: 37 years old
Permanent residence: Moscow region, Korolev city, Russia
Profession: Cosmonaut-investigator.
Education:
From 1978 to 1986 he studied at secondary school ¹211(5), Leninsk city (Baykonur), Kzyl-Ordinsk region, Kazakhstan;
From 1986 to 1990 he studied at Tallinn polytechnic on the specialty “Electrical equipment of industrial enterprises and plants”, technician-electrician;
1992 ã. ñëóøàòåëü Ïîäãîòîâèòåëüíîãî îòäåëåíèÿ ÌÃÒÓ èì. Í.Ý. Áàóìàíà;
In 1992 he was a student at the Preparatory department of N. E. Bauman’s MSTU; From 1992 to 1998 studied at the day department of N. E. Bauman’s MSTU  on the specialty “Technics and physics of low temperatures”, after graduation he received specialty engineer-mechanic.
Experience:
In 1990 he worked as an electrician of industrial equipment at the State union plant “Engine” named after V. I. Lenin, Tallinn;
From 1990 to 1991 he served in the Soviet Army as a driver-mechanic, Vilnius;
From 1995 to 1999 he worked as a driver of ATI of N. E. Bauman’s MSTU;
From 1998 to 2003 he worked as an engineer of JSC RSC “Energia” named after S. P.Korolev, specialist on extra-vehicular activity;
From 2003 he was selected into the team of cosmonauts of JSC RSC “Energia”, and, finishing general space training, received qualification “Cosmonaut-investigator”;
At the present time he is a cosmonaut-investigator of JSC RSC “Energia” named after S. P. Korolev and is training in MCC named after Y. A. Gagarin in the group ISS-2;
In November 2007 he took an active part in the technical experiment of “Mars-500” project.
Interests/hobbies:cosmonautics, tourism, mountain skiing, diving, underwater hunting, travelling.


Shpakov Alexey Vasilievich

Age: 25 years old
Permanent residence: Pskov region, Velikiye Luki city, Russia.
Profession: specialist on physical training and sport.
Education:
From 2001 to 2006 studied at Velikiye Luki state academy of physical culture and sport;
In 2006 entered day post-graduate courses of SSC RF –Institute for biomedical problem of RAS, he is working at writing candidate’s thesis on the theme “Mechanisms of influence of microgravity on biomechanical and kinematic characteristics of locomotions”.
Experience:
From 2006 till the present time he has been a laboratory assistant of the department “Sensormotor physiology and prophylaxis” of SSC RF – Institute for biomedical problems of RAS.
Interests/hobbies:
Sphere of scientific interests – gravitation physiology, prophylaxis of adverse factors of space flights. Hobby – track and field athletics (running).


Baranov Alexey Viktorovich

Age: 33 years old
Permanent residence: Moscow, Russia.
Profession: Physician urologist, oncologist.
Education:
In 1998 graduated from Moscow medical stomatological institute named after N. A. Semashko.
Experience:
During studying at the institute he took an active part in interinstitutional scientific conferences, after graduation he continued scientific work. He has more than 20 published works, experience at giving presentations on Russian and international scientific conferences.
He raised the level of this qualification in andrology; endoscopic urology; ultrasound methods of diagnostics and treatment of urologic diseases; radio isotopic methods of investigation in urology.
From 1995 he has been working as an investigator in IBMP.
In 1997 he finished certified courses on oncology. He is a physician of the Highest category.
From 2000 he has been working in clinical hospital ¹ 1119 of FMBA of Russia as a physician-urologist.
In 2007 he defended candidate’s thesis and became a candidate of medical sciences.
He is a senior researcher of the laboratory of minimal invasive surgery of SRMSI (scientific-research medical-stomatological institute) of MSMSU (Moscow state medical-stomatological institute).
Interests/hobbies: mountain skiing, paintball, water and mountain tourism, football.


Cyrille Fournier

Age: 40 years old
Nationality: French.
Resides in: Paris, France.
Current employment:
Commercial airline pilot for Air France, currently Captain on the Airbus A320.
Education:
1993-96 – Diplome d’ingenieur Material Sciences and Technologies at the Institut des Sciences de l’Ingenieur de Montpellier (ISIM).
1987-90 – DEUG A in Physics and Mathematics from the Universite Paris Sud.
Experience:
A commercial airline pilot with Air France since April 1998. Fournier started as First Officer on the Airbus A320, moving to the Airbus A340 in May 2001. He moved up to the rank of Captain on the Airbus A320 in April 2006.
Since April 2008, Fournier is also a mentor on the Air France course 'Taming the aircraft' which aims to help people with a stress-associated with a fear of flying.
Fournier also has work experience as a product engineer for surface finishing technologies company Walther Trowal.
Interests/hobbies:
Field hockey, jogging, squash, skiing, art, photography, travelling.


Oliver Knickel

Age: 28 years old
Nationality: German
Resides in: Hamburg, Germany
Current employment:
Army engineer in the Bundeswehr (German National Defence Force).
Education:
March 2008-present – Part-time MBA in International Management at ESB Reutlingen.
2002-06 – University degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Helmut-Schmidt-Universitat/ Universitat der Bundeswehr Hamburg. Majored in combustion engines, technical combustion and aerospace engineering.
Experience:
Joined the Bundeswehr (German National Defence Force) in July 1999 as a soldier in the 272nd anti-tank parachute battalion.
Between 1999 and 2002, Knickel completed Officer training with the paratroopers. This included an assignment from June to September 2002 with the 1st Infantry Battalion in Kabul, Afghanistan, as part of German contingent of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
Since October 2007, Knickel is a lecturer in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering and Mechanics at the Technische Schule Landsysteme und Fachschule des Heeres fur Technik.
Interests/hobbies:
Skiing, Wing Tsun (Chinese martial art), running, languages (Russian, French), travelling.
